Julianne's by Carolyn Altman and Kimberly Horn, copyright 2008 This painting is about as close to "modern" or "impressionistic" as I have gotten and I can't take all of the credit. My daughter Kimberly and I did this painting together for Julie (my other daughter). It is of a fictional street of a French Cafe in Paris. There is a photography studio called "Julianne's" with a dress boutique on one side and a "Paris Cafe" on the other. I have really enjoyed this painting and have plans to do some more similar to it, maybe bring the scene to San Antonio, Sante Fe, New York, oh the possibilities!

Eucalyptus in Cookie Jar by Carolyn Altman, copyright 2008 I transformed the look of a cookie jar that my mom had given me. Creating a Tucscany feel because the original floral design had long ago faded, I decided to recreate the look of this jar by adding the cornflower blue design to it, in the painting that is. The lid has long been broken and missing, so the jar is now a flower vase with light green Eucalyptus. I thought it would look very nice on a small table in the entry of a Southwestern style or Tuscany cafe. The deep reds add a nice contrast and the cracked stucoo adds a little rustic feel.

Revisiting the small town where I grew up, I took a picture of a speckled rooster on the sidewalk. Yes, it is a very small town and chickens now roam the streets. I put this speckled rooster in the painting with bushel of corn. It made me think of
the saying "I love you a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and hug aroung the neck" therefore the name.
A little bit "corny" huh?
The original is painted on a thick canvas with the painting continuing around the edges. No frame is required.
