The subjects of this painting are young boys, learning the cowboy way, by branding and adding ear tags. The boys, that I used as cowboy subjects, are brothers and cousins growing on ranch land in the Lone Star State.
Cowboys, cowboy hats, boots and spurs, and horses are popular subjects to paint in Texas and throughout the Southwest part of the United States.
